Helping 2013

(1) What ideas do you have for your senior project and why?

Victoria: Adoption/ foster care.
Audrianna: Make-up artist.
What feedback did you offer when you heard the topic ideas?
Victoria:  Look for places that you can adopt kids now because its really hard to find somewhere where she'll be allowed to shadow.
Audrianna: Take the cosmetics class at Village. Can count as her independent.

(2) What do you plan to do to complete the 10 hours of service learning (working with an expert) which is due prior to senior year starting?  Note: They also have to complete the 50 hours during the school year.

Victoria: I don't know yet.
Audrianna: I don't know yet.
What feedback did you offer them in response?
 Victoria: Look for places that you can adopt kids now because its really hard to find somewhere where she'll be allowed to shadow
Audrianna: Maybe ask if you can be around the people who put on make-up at the MAC booths.

(3) What do you hope to see or expect to see when watching the class of 2012 present their two hour presentations?

Victoria: Want something fun, something that will get me to participate with the persons project. I want to be able to connect with what they felt.
Audrianna: Ya same.
What suggestions did give them regarding how they should approach watching the 2 hour presentations?  
Victoria: I wanted to explain what diagnoses/ symptoms are. From there make stories that have syptoms and the students have to act as the psychologist and see whats there diagnoses. At the end ill see which has the most that are right and give out a prize.

(4) What questions do they have about senior project?  What additional recommendations would you give the 2013 student about senior project?  Be specific and note what you told them.

Victoria: Whats an independent study?
Audrianna: What is the main thing that is needed do well in a senior project?
What additional recommendations did you give them?
 Victoria: Its an independent study in which you have to create your own thing. You want adoption/ foster care. Well then you can work with a child that is in foster care for a minimum of 30 hours and see what you get out of it.
 Audrianna: You need to time yourself and be on time. Do not leave everything last minute. Or you'll either fail or be super stressed.

Third Interview Questions

My third interview will be with child phychologist who is also working at Marshall Middle School, Mrs. Monroe. Since my Science fair project is to determin whether if peer presure is the reason why teen engage in harmful activities; I believe it would be extremly helpful if I ask some question realting to my Science fair project.

1. EQ : " What is a best way to become a successful Child Psychologist for teens who are going through peer pressure?"

2. Do you believe that depending on the age you are in, you tend to approach things differently?

3. How could i enhance my skills in counseling?
4. Do you believe females mature alot faster then males?

5. Do agree on in order for a counselor to be able to give guidance or help out the patient, they should first understand the reasons to why both male and female have different mind sets?

6. Why do you believe that the majority of females tend to have a sexual encounter with the person they love?

7. Why do you believe teens tend to expiriment with drugs? (peer pressure, dealing with problems)

Interview Check

1. Who are you interviewing and why?
I plan on interviewing Maria Gonzales. She is a child psychologist that volunteers at schools and has been a psychologist for the past 15 years. She was my psychologist when i was middle school and helped me outcome some fears. I am positive that she can answer my interview questions with her many years of experience. She can also guide me in what direction i can find other resources.

 2.What additional questions will you ask her (in addition to the 5 we require)?
In addition to asking her the required questions, I want to ask her the following questions:

  1.  What do you think it means to be a successful child psychologist?
  2. What is a common difficulty most child psychologist go through with there patients?
  3. What do you, as a psychologist, do to try to make the patient feel welcomed in order for them to open up?
  4. Do you think child psychology is something everyone can do and can succeed in?
  5. What are some books or sources that I can find mainly about child psychology?
