Independent Component 2 Plan Approval

  1. On Fridays ( a.k.a Fun Fridays) , Think Together has a every Friday event in which the kids get to play catch, have dance lessons, movie, and have a treat. So i asked Miss. Patel If one of these Fridays i can do an activity with them. I was planning on making a story in which Polly has to cross a river. She has chicken, a fox, and a bag of grain. She has to cross the river to get back to the farm but she can only take one item at a time because the boat is only big enough for two.
  2. then i will say that if you leave the chicken and the fox together, the fox will then eat the chicken. and if you leave the chicken with the grain the chicken will then eat all the grain. Help Polly get them across the river safely. I will put them in groups. They discuss the possible answers. When they are done i will see what the answers are and from there I will see what the state of mind of the kid is.I will take me a bit of time to creat the book a size were everyone can see and the characters as well. I have from now to the 29th to work on it. From there I will then have one group out of 5 groups every 30 minutes.
  3. This relates to my EQ because a big part of being a counselor/ Psychologist is to figure out if the children are going through something. Sometimes the child lies and we can't really prove its right or wrong. So a way they try to see if its wrong right they sometimes do test like these.

WE AGREED ON JUST COMPLETING 120 HR.

    The Product

For service learning I'm volunteering in a program called Think Together at Buena Vista elementary school. I have been working with children from the ages of 4 - 13. My product is understanding the experiences of the children who are going through any tip of stress, neglect, or abuse. The reason to why i chose this was because my service learning is teaching me how do deal with all the personalities each child has. My evidence is service learning, my research, and working with the child who was adopted and his biological parents neglected him. which caused him to have traumatising thoughts. So far, I learned that your suppose to listen and be able to understand children even though there may be times you don't understand. Another thing is to be with them the whole entire time don't let them work by themselves. And main thing is to show them you care and won't ever leave them because some of them may be going through a lot of problems. By showing them support they then take it as they are important and that they're worth living.

    Independent Component 1

    Literal
I completed my independent component byworking with kids in a program called Think Together. What I mainly did was to help the children with any of their needs. Such as helping them with their homework, making sure they are respecting others, and to make them feel welcomed. This helps me because it's helping me understand the different personaities.

    Interpretive
I go every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. From 2:00pm -7:00pm making it 15 hours a week. The valunteers and I help the students/children with  their needs and most important show them support.

    Applied
One day at service learning one of their activities was to write in their journal about what they want to do when they grow up. Some of the childrens essays were so well written but their was this one child that had me worried. He wrote about how he wanted to kill/make people suffer when he grows up. I had to report this to the mannager and to his parents. We eventually had a meeting with the child, his parents, the mannager and I. The father then asked why did he write this. The kid replied it was because he need to get revenge.
This made me see that not all children are going to have the same personalities and that I need to be prepared for what comes. At first i thought it was becaouse the parents were neglecting him or were maybe abusing him. This child was actually adopted and his privious parents neglected him.
